Dear Editor:

On Monday, Oct. 5, early voting starts. Maine House District 48 includes the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, Southport and Westport Island. It is an open seat. 

Before voters go to the polls they need to understand after over eight years of corrupt Democrat control, Mainers are suffering in so many ways. Governor Mills’ green energy scam has brought us higher energy bills, seniors have lost their property tax cap, Mainecare has been drained by fraud and abuse, Dept. of Health and Human Service is riddled with abuse of those in need the most, men are being allowed to play in woman’s sports and the public school system is graduating students that can’t read.

Governor Mills stopped the No tax on tips, overtime and on Social Security. Maine has the oldest population in the US and Lincoln County has the most seniors in the state. Seniors are suffering with higher energy bills and property taxes. It would have been nice if there were no tax on Social Security.  All of the above is not President Trump’s fault. The blame belongs to the Maine Democrats. The Democrats have changed “Maine the Way Life Should Be.” to “Maine the Way of Life Under Government Socialist Control.”

We need Republican control in Augusta and get Maine back to what it use to be.

Erik Hobson will find ways to lower the cost of living in Maine. He is committed to fighting for our fishermen, working families, and seniors who are struggling under Augusta’s current policies. He will work to reduce government spending, lower energy costs, eliminate waste, fraud and corruption and work for career training that will give Mainers a career that will support their families.

I own property in the district and I know Erik. He is what we need in Augusta. I can’t vote for him. I am asking you and especially the unenrolled to vote for Erik. Maine cannot afford two more years of Democrat control. It is simple. Do you want freedom or more of the same socialism/communism. Vote Republican you won’t be disappointed!
