Veggies to Table auction gala raises $319,106 to help fight hunger in Midcoast Maine
Veggies to Table raised an extraordinary $319,106 at its annual To the Nines auction and gala on Aug. 9, bringing the community together in support of its mission to help end hunger.
The funds raised will directly support Veggies to Table’s work growing and donating fresh, organic produce and flowers to neighbors experiencing hunger and needing joy, expanding hands-on educational programming, and building new infrastructure on the farm.
“Raising over $300,000 is a testament to what this community can accomplish when people come together around a shared belief that everyone deserves access to nourishing food and the joy of flowers, not just the privileged few.” said Erica Berman, executive director of Veggies to Table. “An event like this is truly a community effort. There are hundreds of acts of generosity behind that final amount. Every donated item, sponsorship, volunteer hour, bid, ticket, and gift helped get us to $319,106 … and each one will ultimately help us put more produce on our neighbors’ tables.”
The success of To the Nines was made possible by support at every level: guests who bid on auction items, raised their paddles, purchased Golden Tickets, and made donations; businesses and individuals who contributed one-of-a-kind auction prizes, food, services, and time. And a dedicated crew of more than 50 volunteers who brought it all to life.
Veggies to Table extends special thanks to its corporate sponsors who helped make the evening possible: Johnny’s Selected Seeds, J. Edward Knight, Sotheby's International Realty, Knickerbocker Group, Rising Tide Co-op, First National Bank, M.S. There’s more to come this season. Veggies to Table will host hands-on classes, workshops, tours, and educational programs throughout the remainder of the growing season. On Oct. 17, the community is also invited to a special Veggies to Table Fundraising Dinner and Wine Pairing at The Contented Sole celebrating the harvest and the shared work of feeding the community.
