Dear Editor:

Very upsetting to see the Register decide to have Heather O’Brien with large photo taking up nearly half the front page, with the headline “BRHS alumna accused of stealing from school booster club.”

Since when does an accusation deserve front page coverage? The article does eventually mention in the fourth paragraph that O'Brien was “active in local nonprofit organizations, including Kickstart Stables, and the Windjammer Days Committee ... also well known locally for her efforts to promote local businesses and tourism.”

Doesn’t such a person deserve better treatment, at least until proven guilty?
