Trevett Column: Potluck June 17
The new door to the BICA Hall (24 West Side Road) worked great and if you missed using it in May it is ready to greet you for the potluck scheduled for June 17 at 5:30 p.m. Our hosts, Marianne, Vic, Joan, Ann and Clark, are asking attendees to bring a main dish, salad, side dish, or dessert to share. Coffee and water will be available, and folks are welcome to bring their preferred beverages. All are welcome.
Following dinner there will be a presentation by Nicole Browne from Camden Bank about scams and how to protect yourself. Anybody can be scammed as the scammers have become quite sophisticated.
The kickoff of the annual Lobster Raffle got off to a great start. Ticket buying was brisk so make sure you get yours soon. Prices are the same as last year; $1 per ticket or $5 gets you six tickets. The raffle is going to be two drawings of 12 lobsters, so all ticket buyers will have two chances to win. Thanks to Laura and Bucky for heading this up.
Our May hosts of Robin, Robert, Michelle, and Jim did a great job hosting for the first time. They had the kitchen humming. A nice selection of main dishes and sides was offered, and the desserts were amazing. Thanks to all who contributed. Pretty flowers on the tables added to the Spring atmosphere. The extra clean up help of Tony and Ryan was appreciated. Thanks guys.
As always, Bingo was fun with four different games being played. Tony somehow managed to win two of the games with Doris and Judy pulling off the other wins. Amazing to watch some folks play several cards at the same time.
As announced earlier, the Better Than a Yard Sale will be held July 11 starting at 8 a.m. Suzanne has provided a list of needs as follows: glassware, dinnerware, wooden furniture that can be easily moved, holiday items, linens, small working appliances but no electronics, cookbooks, books of Maine, New England or local interest, puzzles, games, vintage, housewares, antiques, artwork, jewelry, lawn and garden items, plants, and lots of baked goods. Volunteers are needed to host the monthly potlucks which are held on the third Wednesday of each month. Hosting includes setting up tables, arranging the food, and helping with cleanup. Most volunteers finish by 8 p.m., and training is available. If you’re interested in hosting or would like more information, please contact Louise at pandlcowan@hotmail.com. Please note: Potlucks cannot take place without hosts.
Feel free to help yourself to any of the books on the shelves or drop off ones that you have enjoyed and would like to share with others.
