Treating what ails you
On Oct. 10, the membership of the Boothbay Region Garden Club received an enlightening talk about the medicinal properties of plants and herbs growing right here in our own gardens and forest areas that can contribute to the maintenance of good health.
Natalia Bragg, owner and operator of the Knot II-Bragg Farm, described “the four horsemen,” vitamin D, Selenium, B-Complex and odorless garlic oil, as the planks on which good health is built. Whether or not we know it, she explained, each and every one these four elements affects the heart, the brain and virtually every other system in the body.
Though not there to diagnose or prescribe, Bragg displayed and described a wide array of herbal tinctures that she prepares and markets. She cautioned that one must use discretion in the use of natural medicines and recognize that not every formula works for everyone.
Learn more about Natalia Bragg and her 54-year history as a practicing herbalist, by checking out her website or email her at knotiibragg@outlook.com. It may surprise you to learn how many afflictions are potentially treatable with natural, plant-based medicines that trace their roots to Native American practices.
The website offers background information on Bragg and on the history of her farm along with an online catalog of products and listing of classes offered. Tours of this amazing Aroostook County farm, located at 469 New Dunntown Rd., Wade, are available June 1 through Oct. 31.
BRGC regularly offers programs that aim to educate the community about various aspects of nature and the environment.
