Three things

Wed, 04/15/2020 - 8:45am

I decided to not write solely about the coronavirus pandemic after four weeks of doing so in this column (too depressing) so I am using my old stand-by of writing about “Three things,” which I haven’t used in two months.

Ditched my winter/spring coat for a few days this week, but the weather certainly has not been consistently “spring-like.” Or maybe it has? I remind you of the April 8, 1982 snowstorm that dumped about five or six inches of wet snow on the region (I think the forecast was one, maybe two inches). I remember it well because my wife did a marvelous job of driving through it. We had to go to Bath to pick up our wedding invitations and left shortly after noon. After being delayed because of several accidents on the way back to Boothbay Harbor, the usual hour-long trip stretched out to about five hours! Spring in Maine!

At least we’re not growling about a slow start by the Boston Red Sox. But I have missed watching “live” sports, whether on TV or in person. Looking forward to doing that again – the sooner, the better! But I am sure not looking forward to seeing Mookie Betts in a Dodger uniform and Tom Brady in a Buccaneers jersey anytime soon.

Thank you to our advertisers who have helped support the newspapers through the ordeal we’re all going through. May we all have a great summer of business; getting back to “normal” will take some hard work, but I believe our region will thrive once again because of the work ethic of Maine people.

    Be safe!
