‘Thomas’ makes a final stop at Boothbay Railway Village

Thu, 07/30/2015 - 8:15am

The Boothbay Railway Village will host a special guest visitor on his way back to Massachusetts. Thomas, the True Blue Engine, is stopping by to say hello, and good-bye, to his Maine fans between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6.

Edaville USA amusement park, located in South Carver, Massachusetts, has been given the rights from HIT Entertainment (the parent company of Thomas the Tank Engine) to open the very first Thomasland theme park in North America. The new theme park is scheduled to open on Saturday, Aug. 15.

Thomas has been here in Maine for most of the summer being readied for his big Grand Opening with a fresh coat of paint and other upgrades. Edaville USA had generously loaned the Museum the Thomas engine, the only narrow gauge Thomas in the Country, for the annual Day Out With Thomas events in Boothbay for the past seven years. According to the museum’s Chief Engineer Brian Fanslau, “Hosting Thomas for this visit and promoting Thomasland for Edaville is just our way of saying thank you to them for that opportunity.”

While in Boothbay, Thomas will be aboard a flatbed trailer behind a tractor trailer. The trailer will be located in the museum’s parking lot so there is no admission required to come and wish him well.
