They saved my life
Dear Editor:
I would like to acknowledge, commend and say thank you to the First Responders who attended my heart attack in the Wiscasset True Value parking lot August 13. The efficiency, professionalism and compassion they demonstrated will remain with me forever.
They saved my life that day. The 911 dispatcher, Wiscasset Rescue, the unnamed EMT from True Value, and the medical staff at Mid Coast Hospital, all responded with an incredible display of teamwork and coordination. So, thank you to that 911 Dispatcher, that unnamed EMT from True Value, the ambulance crew (and I hope I got the names straight, I was a little confused at the time) Marcie, Tanya, Craig, the two nurses from the ER, Amy and Ben.
I would also like to remind everyone who votes that these First Responders are there for us every day. To be there for us they require our support, our acknowledgement and our gratitude. You never can tell when you might have to dial 911. And for those of us who live on the Boothbay peninsula, I shudder to think of the ramifications of having this sort of medical emergency with an additional 12 miles to go and no emergency room.
