Therapist completes Zurich analytic training
Victoria Hart recently completed extensive training in Zurich, Switzerland, as an analytical psychologist. Her Damariscotta practice is now open.
Hart has finished the six years of training in addition to her earlier education in psychology. “I found my skills inadequate to truly help people get better,” said Hart. “Now I have a whole new set of tools.”
One of them is the ability to access and utilize the tremendous resources of the unconscious. When a person is completely stuck in a problem the answer can be just beneath the surface, if one only knew how to reach it. Hart said “That’s my job – acting as a helper or guide in that unfamiliar territory.”
An analyst is the only mental health professional whose training requires a close examination of her inner life. This means the analyst must be thoroughly prepared to examine how her personal situation can affect your treatment. The doctor does indeed practice what she preaches.
According to Hart there is wide spread dissatisfaction with life today. “Humans are by our very nature spiritual was well as physical, emotional and psychological,” she said. Chronic unhappiness may be alleviated through a creative endeavor or an intentional search for deep meaning. Analytical psychology understands this need as simply one component of what it means to be human.
“This training was a tremendous undertaking. I invested everything in it. I saw the need and made the commitment.”
Victoria Hart is accepting new clients. She sees individuals in her Main Street, Damariscotta, office and can also make home visits. She accepts most insurance including Medicare and MaineCare. More information is available at www.victoriahartlcsw.com. She can be reached by email and at 504-3553.
