Dear Editor:

February 22, 2014 was World Peace and Understanding Day, the 109th anniversary of the day when Paul Harris and three of his buddies got together in Chicago for the very first Rotary meeting.

In celebration of this day, Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club drew up a plan to support the Boothbay Region Food Pantry. During the “Stuff the Bus” food drive, we collected 733 food products and $307 in donations. The Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club will match the $307, making the grand total collected $614. According to the Food Pantry, the $614 is a 4 to 1 ratio toward purchasing food.

I want to thank Hannaford, the YMCA, Boothbay Region Ambulance, Boothbay Register, our Rotary club members that manned the bus and all of our friends and neighbors that came out on a cold February day to support the Food Pantry.
