Thankful for emergency responders
Dear Editor:
Now that I have my thoughts together and I am on the mend, I realize how lucky I am to be living and breathing (especially at my age). On Feb. 4, I suffered an AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) rupture and endured a 100 mph ride to Maine Medical Center from Miles in an ambulance with some pretty capable EMTs. We arrived in time to get me into surgery and the outcome was a success despite the odds.
I want to express a thank you to all the medical experts who played a role in saving my life that night. With too many to name personally the list includes the ambulance crew, the doctor who diagnosed the situation at Miles, the doctor and her surgical team who performed the miracle and last but not least, Sarah Lauriat Gamage, my granddaughter and very capable registered nurse.
Looks like I will be around a little longer!
