Storyteller Doris Feyling at St. Columba’s Sept. 19

Tue, 09/07/2021 - 7:45am

On Sunday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m., storyteller Doris Feyling will share the biblical story of Bathsheba at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church.

Doris’ first career was as a master’s-prepared nurse practitioner. She also was an award-winning lecturer who taught medical students and expecting parents. When she was a child, her father sowed the seeds of her love of storytelling, and she continued the tradition with her own two daughters, who are now grown. As Doris prepared for retirement, she heard a professional storyteller who brought her to laughter and tears and stunned her with his power. She signed up for classes, ended her retirement, and her second career as a storyteller began.

Doris is a resident storyteller at a San Francisco elementary school and tells stories at an assisted living facility, a nursery school and an after-school program. She has also worked with a Spanish teacher to help students learn Spanish vocabulary.

St. Columba’s is located at 32 Emery Lane in Boothbay Harbor.
