St. Andrews Auxiliary holds October meeting, announces donations
St. Andrews Auxiliary members gathered once again at St. Andrews Village’s dining room for the annual October meeting.
This is the first time since Covid that the Auxiliary has been able to use the Village’s dining room. The Village provided a lovely lunch for our members and guests.
Scholarship Chair Linda Redman led the meeting and presented outgoing president Gloria Wakefield’s annual report.
Reven Oliver, director of Philanthropy at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital, introduced our speakers for the meeting. Dr. Valerie Donohue, Family Practice and Women’s Health, and Dr. Hilary Glick, Oncologist, were scholars from the Tufts School of Medicine’s Maine Track program. Tuft’s Maine Track program offers a unique opportunity for students interested in exploring diverse healthcare pathways. Developed in partnership with MaineHealth, the Maine Track provides a curriculum centered on community-based healthcare, allowing students to gain experience at clinical sites across Maine serving diverse communities. The Maine Track program also offers a limited number of scholarships to help offset the cost of medical education.
Dr. Donohue is from Maine and wanted to come back to Maine for her practice. She has her practice at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital for Family Practice and Women’s Health. She will be accepting to new patients shortly.
Dr. Glick benefitted from the Tuft’s program and loved Maine from her visits. She also has her practice at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital in Oncology. She is looking forward to the new Infusion Center and Oncology offices projected for 2025.
Following the new physicians’ presentations, Amy Bykowski, Auxiliary Treasurer, presented the Fall Gifts to those attending benefactors.
The Auxiliary has pledged additional donations at our annual spring meeting in June 2025 in the amount of $41,500 to Maine Track Tuft’s program, MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital, St. Andrews Family Care Center, and St. Andrews Urgent Care.
Linda Redman also presented the scholarship funds that were provided to MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital (formerly LincolnHealth Miles Hospital). Five nursing students benefited from the scholarships. Two of the five nursing students received their funds from the Don and Fran Hale Scholarship fund which the Auxiliary administers. A total of $35,428.60 was given out.
The membership elected Patty Colhoun and Sally Giantris as president and vice president respectively. Patty and Sally look forward to working with the Thrift Shop and MaineHealth membership. St. Andrews Auxiliary and Thrift Shop would not exist without our members, community, and MaineHealth. We appreciate you and look forward to continuing working with you.
