Southport sets hearing date for 'Growth District' expansion
On Feb. 19, Southport residents will gather for a public hearing discussing the merits of possibly expanding one of the three growth districts. The town is designated as a residential area divided into three growth districts. Residents will vote on the March town meeting warrant to expand the growth district located in the northeast side just south of Cameron Point Road, according to Selectman Gerry Gamage. "The proposal would increase the district by one lot," Gamage said.
Prior to the March vote, the town must hold a public hearing. During the Jan. 29 meeting, the board signed a selectmen's return which allowed for the February hearing.
In other action, selectmen approved two town hall requests. One is for Chelsea Lewis' and Andrew Rayle's July 13 wedding reception. The other is for Anita Sherman's Dec. 24 family dinner.
Selectmen received correspondence from Morgan Mitchell and Andrei Bazaiac which thanked them for their approving a previous town hall rental.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 in the town hall.
