Southport Planning Board says Pratt's Island Road cottage location OK
The Southport Planning Board determined a Pratt’s Island Road cottage met Maine Department of Environmental Protection regulations regarding the 75-foot shoreland setback provision.
The board had a site review Nov. 4 to inspect the property. Applicant Michael Azzoni needs a Southport building permit to raise his cottage at its present location. Prior to receiving a building permit, Azzoni needs a Maine DEP permit to receive planning board approval.
To receive his DEP permit, he needed the planning board to provide a ruling regarding the state’s 75-foot shoreland zone setback requirement.
The planning board determined the cottage’s location met the DEP’s requirement of “greatest practical extent” and didn’t need to move.
In other action, the board held a workshop on proposed land use ordinance changes requested by the code enforcement officer. The board also received a status update on proposed blasting ordinances changes.
The board meets next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 in the town hall.
