South Bristol centennial celebration July 17-19

    South Bristol seceded from Bristol on March 15, 1915, and will celebrate its centennial on July 17, 18 and 19 with events for all ages.

    The Centennial Committee has worked closely with selectmen Christian Plummer, Kenny Lincoln and Chester Rice to make all the plans for this celebration. Centennial Committee members include Caril-Anne Crocket Lincoln, Tammy Plummer, Tamara Kaler, Betsy Graves and Donna Plummer. All are invited to join in the fun at the following events.

    Friday, July 17

    8 a.m.: Golf tournament at Wawenock Golf Course

    1 p.m.: Dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial at the Town Office

    4 p.m.: Plaque Unveiling-Eugley Town Landing

    5:30 p.m.: Old-fashioned bean supper

    5-11 p.m.: Music at Coveside; 5-8, Jason Spooner; 8:30-11, Will and Doug

    Saturday, July 18

    8:30 a.m.: 5k Race and 1k Fun Walk begins at the school; preregistration: http://southbristolcentennial5k.weebly.com

    10 a.m.: Parade from Firehouse to the School; Participants line-up at 9:30 a.m.; flowers at the old swing bridge to say goodbye

    11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Crafts, vendors and food at the ball field at the school; historical exhibit in the gym and music in the field by Hired Hands

    Noon: South Bristol vs. Bristol Tug of War

    2 p.m.: Time capsule at the South Bristol School

    5-9 p.m.: Gamage Shipyard barbecue by Coveside and beer tent; Music by Dyer Neck Gang

    9 p.m.: Fireworks over the Western Gut

    Sunday, July 19

    10 a.m.: Historical Worship Service at Union Church

    11 a.m.: Coffee Hour at Union Church Parish Hall

    Noon: Lobster Bake at South Bristol Co-op; 100 tickets only, get tickets at Harborside and at the Co-op

    The following area museums will also be open: Thompson Ice House; S. Road School; Walpole Chapel; South Bristol Historical Society Museum; and Walpole Meeting House.
