Corrected: The original post had wrong the state’s and towns’ shares of the sidewalk project.

Boothbay Harbor selectmen learned Aug. 24, the Route 27 sidewalk preconstruction utility meeting first scheduled for June will be held Aug. 26. Boothbay Harbor Town Manager Julia Latter will attend, along with Maine Department of Transportation, local utilities and Boothbay Town Manager Dan Bryer, the licensed project administrator.

Hagar Enterprises was picked for the first phase of the project which extends the Route 27 sidewalk from Boothbay Region YMCA to an area between Pinkham's Gourmet Market and Hackmatack Road, said Latter. The full scope of the $565,000 project will extend the sidewalk to the roundabout in Boothbay over one more phase. The project is 80% state funded; Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor are funding the rest.

The town office will now have signs at the entrance recommending masks for everyone regardless of vaccination status, Latter said. The policy is to ensure the health and safety of town employees and the public and so office operations continue as normal from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Chair Mike Tomko said other towns in Lincoln County are also continuing to meet remotely and so far he has not received complaints since the last two meetings have been over Zoom. “It's good to know we're still meeting the needs of our community while still meeting safely.”
