Second guess
Well, my first “guess where this is” foray into the land of game show host was a pretty substantial flop. For some reason, there was limited excitement for a custom, signed, limited edition print of a Hannaford sign. My mailbox was unresponsive.
Postal maven Jeanette never experienced the deluge of mail about which she was forewarned.
There was one bright spot, however. Our old friend and man-about-town Michael Lewis called me shortly after the Hannaford photo appeared. He was pretty enthusiastic and quite confident about the exact location of the photo. He was right. Go Michael!
Surprisingly, more than a few people wanted to know why I’d photographed the Waldoboro Hannaford. There was something about the sign (or the photo) that people did not recognize. Interesting isn’t it, how we sometimes don’t recognize the things we most often see.
So this week there is a new (slightly more difficult) image to stimulate discussion and the mail processing system. And there will be no hints to avoid like the last time, which may have contributed to the lackluster response.
I have heard however, that Albert Greenleaf’s putter has begun to talk, but only on the back nine!
My offer stands: a signed custom print for the first two people who correctly guess the location of the photo. Please send your guess to me at P.O. Box 101, Southport, ME 04576, and stand by for results in a few weeks.
Support our local post office — and me. Happy hunting.
