Salt Bay Chamberfest concerts at CMBG
Salt Bay Chamberfest is partnering with Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay for the first time to present three “musical installations” on the grounds of the Gardens. The performances will pair music to location, and emphasize Indigenous music. The events are free, with advance registration requested.
The three installations, times, and locations in the Gardens are as follows:
Friday, Aug. 8 at 3 p.m. - Cleaver Lawn: With songs honoring the Three Sisters, Wabanaki singer Lauren Stevens will be joined by violinists Aaron Boyd and Jesse Mills, violist Natalie Loughran, and cellist and SBC Artistic Director Wilhelmina Smith.
Saturday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. - Arbor Garden: Smith and cellist Edward Arron will present music for two cellos honoring our trees.
Thursday, Aug. 14 at 4 p.m. - Great Lawn to Fairy House Village: Flutist Claire Chase will serve as a Pied Piper, roaming the Gardens and encouraging attendees to enjoy music with her. She will be joined by violinists Boyd and Kyu-Young Kim, violist Jonathan Vinocour, cellist Smith, and percussionist Ayano Kataoka.
Concertgoers can gain free access to the Gardens (and concerts) one hour prior to events. Advance registration is requested.
