Rockland Police charge woman with possession of fentanyl

    ROCKLAND — Rockland Police arrested a woman on alleged drug offenses after officers found her asleep in her vehicle with drugs, including a supply of fentanyl, while she was parked at a gas station.  

    Maria Bowie, 40, of Cumberland County, was charged by police Oct. 23 with aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, and violation of condition of release.

    Bowie made her initial appearance in court Oct. 25 before Justine Daniel Billings who set her bail at $250 cash. She will be on supervised release and cannot use or possess any drugs and will subject to random searches.

    According to the police affidavit filed in Knox County court, they found Bowie at around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 passed out in a parked pickup truck with the engine still running. Police said that they recognized the woman from prior law enforcement interactions.

    Police searched the suspect’s vehicle and found in her possession 8 grams of fentanyl, 85 600 mg. Gabapentin tablets and over $900 in cash.

    Bowie is currently on probation for a previous drug conviction when police arrested her.

    She is scheduled to appear in court again Jan. 26 for a dispositional conference.
