Reelect Abby Jones
Dear Editor:
I’m writing to ask your Boothbay readers to vote for the re-election of Abby Jones to the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor School Committee. She has consistently gone over and above the normal workload asked of a school committee member. As an example, she served extra hours and days on the school building committee over the last five years, identifying and advocating for the options for the repair and improvement of our school buildings. She has spent extra time exploring potential options for regionalization. She has worked on writing grants to provide extra funds to provide quality education for our kids. An example of this is work on a grant that would support a program for Marine Education involving everything from boat building, to marine science, to hospitality and the trades.
Abby recognizes that we can never have everything we might want for our kids, but that we have to do our best within our ability to afford the best possible education.
Abby has a background in psychology, teaching, and administration that well suits her to understand the problems that face our schools, and to recognize the best and most economical solutions to them.
I served on the School Committee with her for the past six years, and have seen her dedication, her work ethic, and her good decision-making in action over this time.
Based on this experience, I urge you to vote for Abby at the Boothbay polls on May 4.
