Re: Decapitating Y
Dear Editor:
I’d like to respond to Ms. Weyr’s letter.
My comments are concerning the issues she raised regarding Boothbay zoning code changes she states were proposed with either input or vote. Boothbay is required by its ordinance to post a notice of planning board meetings, workshops and public hearings in the Boothbay Register for two weeks before such a meeting can take place.
At at these meetings, comments and suggestions regarding zoning changes are welcomed. The planning board recently held a workshop where the main agenda item was the sign ordinance. This was stated in the public notice. No one other than planning board members were in attendance at that meeting.
I’m disturbed that Ms. Weyr, her spouse, and others don’t offer any input or suggestions but are more than willing to voice complaints after planning work has been done. Our democracy offers an opportunity for all to have input in addition to complaints.
