Picnic lunch series features Jonathan Waldo
Jonathan Waldo was the featured musician during the April 7 Picnic Concert at Boothbay Region Elementary School. The Friday concerts were originally scheduled during March to celebrate Youth Art Month. Held during lunch time, various singers and musicians entertained students and families as they sat picnic-style on blankets and towels spread over the gym floor. BRES Assistant Principal Tricia Campbell said the concerts proved so popular they were extended.
Waldo plays classical guitar and the ancient and exotic Arabian oud. He is a well-known and respected maker of musical instruments, including the two featured during the concert. A BRES educational technician who works with seventh and eighth graders, Waldo shared music from the 1800s along with Middle Eastern music.
Another Picnic Concert will be held on Friday, April 28. The public is welcome to attend. Bring lunch or purchase it at the school.
