The Boothbay Region Peer Center is  a new peer support and recovery center through Amistad, a Portland-based nonprofit, located at 35 School Street in Boothbay Harbor. Those seeking help with mental health and/or  substance abuse issues are welcome.

In addition to wellness group meetings and community meetings, the Center offers Reiki and yoga sessions. Other offerings include creative writing, resume building, and basic cooking.

Here is the calendar for the remaining weeks of January:

Alternative to Suicide - Thursday, Jan. 17 and 31:  2:30-4 p.m.

Basic Cooking 101 -  Friday, Jan. 18: 2:30-4 p.m.

Wellness Group -  Tuesday, Jan. 22 and 29: 3-4 p.m.

Creative Writing -  Wednesday, Jan. 23: 10-11 a.m.

Reiki -  Friday, Jan. 19; 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Yoga -  Monday, Jan. 28: 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Community Meeting -  Wednesday, Jan. 30: 6-7 p.m.
