Ocean On Tap April programs
Ocean on Tap is an informal, ocean-centric speaker series organized by researchers from Bigelow Laboratory. Our goal is to bring people of the communities of Boothbay Harbor and Wiscasset together over the fascinating world of the ocean. At these events, speakers will share their corner of expertise in the ocean, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions.
The next Wiscasset edition is Friday, April 10 at 6 p.m. The program: "The Cell from Hell & Other Stories." Location: Ækeir Brewing. 111 Main Street. Join Dr. Greg Gavelis, a bioinformatician at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, for a conversation about the evolution of the sea's weirdest and scariest microbes.
The next Boothbay Harbor edition is Thursday, April 16 at 6 p.m. The program: "US Science in a Competitive, Global Landscape," at the Footbridge Brewery, 25 Granary Way. Dr. Deborah Bronk, president and CEO at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, will be discussing how federal investment in science has fueled unparalleled advances — and what risks are posed by declining support for science amid growing global competition.
