News and notes from the Community Center
Wednesday, Nov. 11 the Center will be closed for Veterans Day. Thank you to all of our veterans.
Please note: The Community Center will hold its annual meeting on Monday, Nov. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in our office at 185 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor. The public is invited to attend.
On Election Day you may have noticed some members of our board of directors chatting with folks arriving at the town offices. They were volunteering their time to recruit drivers who would bring non-driving friends and neighbors to medical appointments and to run errands. Bravo to these board members for their service to those needing help in our community! And Bravo to the volunteer drivers!
In only a few weeks we will have our annual pie sale! Tuesday, Nov. 24 come and get your pies! We have the region's best bakers who are donating yummy pies just in time for your Thanksgiving table. The sale is always a popular event so be sure to stop by. And bakers, call us at 633-9876 and let us know if you will be baking something for our sale. Thank you!
We are still in need of transfer wheelchairs to lend to residents who need them. These are popular items and they come in and go out quickly for use by our neighbors. If you have one that isn't being used, please consider donating it to the Durable Medical Equipment program. Thanks!
Glady Bean continues with her cribbage lessons on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
Kitchen Hack #3: Your ice cube tray isn't just for ice. You can use an ice cube tray to freeze portions of: fresh herbs, pesto, milk, wine, stock, separated egg whites and yolks to name just a few.
