News and Notes from The Community Center
The theatre van is off again on Thursday, April 19—this time to see the play, “The Niceties,” by Eleanor Burgess. In this riveting, two-person drama, a black student and her white professor meet to discuss their differing views on the student’s paper about slavery and the American Revolution. A polite clash of ideas soon landslides into an explosive discussion of race, history, privilege, and social justice. We are nearly sold out for this one so come on in and sign up.
The first session of Money Smart for Young Adults met this week on Tuesday, April 3. Each of the four sessions in this series covers a different aspect of personal finance. Sponsored by Bath Savings, these classes should prove to be of invaluable assistance to young people just beginning life on their own, but because we believe in inter-generation experiences here at the Center, we are not keeping older people who wish to hone their skills out of the mix. All are welcome, and if you miss the first session, call and let us know you are coming to the next one so we have enough pizza to go around.
Birding 101 is proving to a popular group and they have extended their time to two hours—2 until 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. The group will be going out into the field this summer finding sea birds and song birds.
Don’t forget Game Night on Fridays. We are having an awful lot of fun.
