News and Notes from The Community Center
A bank comes equipped with a drive-through and a night depository. Ours did and that stuff was in The Community Center kitchen and very much in the way, so we called upon the busiest man in town, Daren Graves, and he said he certainly could move the safe, the bullet proof window, the cash drawer — no problem. Done. And done. This past week, it all began with Daren and Reid Hodgdon lifting the safe and sliding metal pipes under it so that it could be rolled across the floor to the sidewalk outside. On the day of the move, Duane Lewis and Daren were assisted by Elder Yates and Elder Hagen from the Mormon Church and Hodgdon Yachts brought a power lift over to lift the safe onto Hawke Motors’ flat bed and it, along with the window and the cash drawer, went off to the dump where Steve Lewis waived the tipping fee. Alan Williams from Hawke Motors opined that the safe weighed about as much as a Volkswagen. After the move, Don Strickland worked his magic — he filled the great hole and you cannot tell there was ever anything there. Miracles happen when caring people team up for the common good. Thank you one and all.
We are beginning to collect quality items for the silent auction at the Kentucky Derby Party. If you have a special thing you would like to donate, please bring it in for consideration. That event will happen on May 5.
