News and Notes from the Community Center
There is another van trip coming and it is filling up quickly. On Feb. 8, we will be going to Portland Stage to see “Babette’s Feast,” a play based upon a short story by Isak Dinesen. It tells the story of how a refugee transforms a closed religious community by sacrificing all she has to throw a lavish dinner party. The van will leave the Center at 10 a.m. — we will stop for lunch and then attend the play at 2 p.m. Transportation and admission are free; participants need only pay for their lunch. Two spaces are left — come and sign up if you would like to attend.
Cookie bakers, we need your help. We are having a Valentine’s Day Cookie Walk again this year. A fundraiser for the Community Center, this event works only is we have lots of pretty cookies available to give out. Please help us out with the cookies … just call and let us know what you can contribute.
We hope to see you and your friends and family at the next Game Night. On Fridays, we are open for puzzling, card games, Scrabble, Rumikub and Dominoes. The hours are 6-9 p.m. and everything is free. Coffee, tea, popcorn and snacks. Soon, we hope to have Trivial Pursuit. Here at the Center, it is all about the game. We play for fun and we enjoy each other’s company. A little competition exists, as well.
The latest adventure is our Cricut workshop on every other Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. A super donor gave us three cricut machines and we have been making unique and beautiful cards. This past week we made valentines for the patients at Safe Haven in St. Andrews Village. This is an ideal opportunity for you to try this wonderful new craft — we have lots of supplies and it is all free
