News and Notes from The Community Center
The Just Sew Group has fashioned a beautiful Spring Quilt and had it professionally quilted. As a way to introduce The Community Center to those who have never visited, to honor our frequent guests, and to thank our wonderful volunteers, the piece will be given to the winner of a drawing to be held on May 15. From now until then, anyone who comes for the first time and takes a tour will receive two chances; the person who conducts the tour will receive two chances; and each person who signs the guest register receives one chance. Each and every time. Between now and May 15. The quilt hangs on display at the Center so come on in and see this work of art and take a chance on winning.
The first session of Money Smart for Young Adults has met. There is still room for additional participants. Each of the four sessions in this series covers a different aspect of personal finance. Sponsored by Bath Savings, these classes should prove to be of invaluable assistance to young people just beginning life on their own, but because we believe in inter-generation experiences here at the Center, we are not keeping older people who wish to hone their skills out of the mix. All are welcome. Be sure to call if you would like to join in. There is free pizza.
Tickets are now available for the annual Kentucky Derby Party sponsored by the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club for the benefit of the Community Center. The date is May 5, the place is Rotary Hall on Montgomery Road Extension, and the doors open at 5:30 p.m. Featuring hors d’oeuveres and a cash bar, live music by Paul Johnson and Amber Jones, a spectacular silent auction, and live streaming of the race—this event is not to be missed. Tickets are $15 each and there are a limited number.
