Medieval historian and Boothbay Harbor resident Lee Swanson has just published “Her Perilous Game,” the second historical fiction novel in the “No Man is Her Master” series, and the thrilling sequel to “No Man’s Chattel.”

“Her Perilous Game” offers a unique look at life among the medieval merchant class, told from the point-of-view of a young woman who must constantly guard the secret of her identity, or chance jeopardizing the life she has made for herself.

“In Her Perilous Game,” Christina Kohl continues her struggle to gain acceptance among the German merchant community in 14th century London. Beginning with an ill-advised voyage across stormy winter seas, she is clearly willing to risk her life in the pursuit of profit. But her growing success draws her into dangers of a different sort; most notably the deadly schemes of a bitter rival. She also becomes increasingly involved in the turbulent politics of the reign of one of England’s most unfortunate kings, Edward II. Profit and loss, honor and treachery, hatred and love,

“Her Perilous Game” is a rollicking adventure tale sure to please anyone who enjoys historically accurate settings, intricate plots, and multi-dimensional characters, some to love and others to hate.

“Her Perilous Game” is on sale now at Sherman’s Book Store in Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta, and on Amazon.com.
