Wed, 02/07/2024 - 7:30am

The Mount Abram Roadrunners lived up to their mascot name in a convincing 89-36 win over the Boothbay Region Seahawks Tuesday, Feb. 6 at BRHS.

Run they did as they built a 50-10 lead at the half and the Seahawks could not match the Roadrunners’ intensity on both ends of the court.

Mt. Abram, seeded in second place in Class C South before the game, had five players in double figures and connected on nine 3-pointers. The Roadrunners had lost two of their last three games (to Maranacook Jan. 30 and Mt. View Feb. 5) and Boothbay had won its last two games.

Payton Mitchell led Mt. Abram with 25 points, followed by Bryce Wilcox, 14; Killian Pillsbury, 13; Logan Dube, 12; and Cam Grey, 11.

Finn Harkins led Boothbay with 11 points, followed by Luke Morley with 10.

Mt. Abram improved to 15-2 while Boothbay dropped to 5-12.

The Seahawks will play their final regular season game in Jay against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix on Thursday, Feb. 8. As of Wednesday morning, Boothbay is in 11th place and if the standings stay the same, they will travel for a pre-tournament game against the sixth-seeded team, which is currently Winthrop.

Prior to the game, Harkins, Morley, Brett Smith and Dominick Dow, as well as managers Charlee Fuchswanz and Kari Blake, were honored during the Senior Night ceremony.
