LISA KRISTOFF/Boothbay RegisterThe Y Arts Community Players cast of 66 played to sold out shows at the Opera House last weekend, and with good reason! First off, it's Y Arts, it'll be brilliant; and second, the production was "Alice In Wonderland," an adaption, sure, but all of the unforgettable characters we love were there. The book, lyrics and music were written and composed by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman.
Bravo to all who played the main characters of the tale: Sophia Mansfield as Alice, Alan Baldwin as a laid-back Jimmy Buffet-Big Gulp sipping version of the Caterpillar; Craig Urwin as the always late White Rabbit, Violet Young as Small Alice, Andy Luke/Mock Turtle, Christina Kurtz and Nick Ullo as Tweedledum and Dee, Imij Armstead as the mildly suggestive Cheshire Cat; Roosevelt Bishop, Soren Barker and Scout Martin as Hearts cards 2, 5 and 7; Nick Mirabile as the Mad Hatter, Sloan Nelson as the endearing Doormouse, Natalie Flagg as the March Hare, Medea Harris as the Knave of Hearts, Brianne Martin as the Dodo Bird, Rick Navarette as the King of Hearts; and Krystal Blackman as the Queen of Hearts.
Memorable performances all.
Shout outs to the Caucus Racers/Parrot Head Dancers, Flamingos/Flowers/Tweedles Dancers, Door and Flower Dancers and the Cheshire Dancers/Cards.
Bravo director/choreographer Emily Mirabile for bringing this cast of youth and adults to the Opera House and giving audiences the opportunity to experience the magic that is live theater and the tale of "Alice In Wonderland."
