Mike Bartles is the right choice for write-in
Dear Editor:
I am writing to express my support for Mike Bartles as a write-in candidate for the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor CSD School Committee.
I first met Mike nearly seven years ago when our children attended daycare together. It was immediately clear to me what a dedicated, loving, and patient father he was. More recently I have had the privilege of viewing Mike in a new light - a passionate community member and fierce advocate. His approach to this campaign has been nothing short of impressive. Mike hasn't just put his name forward as a write-in on the ballot; he has done the "homework" required to lead. He has immersed himself in the process by attending numerous meetings to understand the nuances of our school system and consulted with current and past board members to seek out their expertise.
Transparency is clearly a priority for Mike. He has hosted several opportunities for residents to meet him and ask questions, including a recent open house at his sail loft, M&H Bartles, Sailmakers. There, community members saw firsthand his dedication to his small business and his passion for place-based education - a model that allows students to learn through hands-on experience within our community.
As a teacher at BRES, I would be thrilled to have Mike representing our school. He possesses the drive to understand the complexities of our school system and the temperament to navigate them. I trust him to make decisions that serve the best interests of our students and staff, and I know that as a business owner and homeowner, he will prioritize fiscal responsibility.
I urge my Boothbay Harbor neighbors to join me in writing in “Mike Bartles” for the CSD School Committee. He is a leader who is as patient as he is prepared.
