New Mexican restaurant goes before BH planning board
Boothbay Harbor is one step closer to getting a Mexican restaurant, Mestizo, at the former Studio 53 at 53 Townsend Ave.
On Oct. 14, Co-owner Jeff Teel went before the Boothbay Harbor planning board to complete a site plan review for the change of use.
The board deemed the site plan review complete on several conditions: The property lines of all abutting and neighboring properties within 500 feet of the development, together with the owner's names and addresses, being on file in the town office as per ordinance §170-66 B (6)(b); a utility plan showing water supply, wastewater disposal, electrical, telephone and any other services to be installed (§170-66 B (9)(e)); a signature block on the plan [(§ 170-66 B (8)(u)) and affidavit from the contractor saying they would use proper erosion control procedures when widening the driveway (§ 170-66 B (9)(b)).
In other business, the board made a greatest extent determination for Heather Rorer and Jeff Wheeler of 31 Linekin Road. The pair proposed relocating their house to follow the 75-foot setback line and Federal Emergency Management Agency flood plain line, expanding a garage and reducing their lot coverage from 28.3% to an ordinance-compliant 20%. They also proposed a low stone wall.
The board determined the proposed locations of the replacement house, terrace, stairs and stonewall met applicable shoreland setback requirements and the greatest possible extent under 170-101.7 (C). Members also decided the garage issue was under the Code Enforcement Officer's jurisdiction.
