Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues? (350 words or less): As a current selectman, I think the three pressing issues are solving our parking problem, finalizing the Comprehensive Plan for the town, and try to create a zoning area in Boothbay Harbor where, with state and federal monies, an affordable, year-round apartment complex can be built.
In addition, creating a less cumbersome process for the renewal of victualer's licenses. Also, I think the Use Tax is frivolous and should be abolished. There are a few other things on my wish list, like standing vigilant on the MDOT to make sure they complete the sidewalk from Pinkham's Gourmet Market to the roundabout as they keep kicking the can down the road. Public works continues to do a great job and with coordination with Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, we can finally get our town parks plantings redone with healthy stock.
Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you can bring to the office? 150 words or less: I just served one three-year term as a selectman. I have been asked by numerous citizens to run again which I decided must be an important obligation to fulfill. There are other quality candidates running which I am very glad to see.
