The madness, Brady and feeling normal again

Selection Sunday is March 15. For the non-basketball fans out there, that’s when they pick the field of teams for the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, which feature dozens of games over three-plus weeks to eliminate teams for the Final Four and the National Championship.

The University of Maine women’s team still has a chance to make the tournament. Let’s hope they do.

I also heard on the radio this morning (Tuesday) that someone will pay $1,000 to watch 40 hours of the men’s tournament. I could do that!

As I mentioned (probably last year), I fill out a bracket of the men’s tournament each year and ultimately by the end of the first weekend, I have a dozen wrong picks. This year looks like it is going to be even tougher to pick the first round winners. Oh well, it’s all in fun. It is just a game!

My assistant editor, Susan Johns, most likely wants Tom Brady to stay a Patriot. However, I have mixed emotions about the situation. He becomes a free agent soon and if Mr. Kraft and Mr. Belichick haven’t gotten involved (at least through the press they haven’t) yet, I don’t see him being happy about suiting up for the Pats next year. Lots of established quarterbacks have left the teams where they’ve had the most success. We’ve seen the best we’ll ever see from Tom Brady (I think) so if he goes to another team, we’ll wish him good luck. I can only see him playing two more years, anyway. Thanks for the great memories, Tom Brady.

I caught some kind of illness at the end of February and about 12 days later, I am finally feeling better after visiting my doctor and getting some medication. I am one to ride out a “regular” cold but for the first time in many years, this one started and hung on with coughing and congestion. Hope no one has had it or, if so, is getting over it.

    Have a great week!
