Local Democrats’ Community Picnic set for Oct. 18
The Boothbay Region Democratic Committee is excited to announce its End-of-Season Community Picnic, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Boothbay Common. The event is free and open to the public, with donations—both in-kind and monetary—greatly appreciated. All donations will benefit the food banks in House District 48 (Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, and Southport).
This year’s picnic will offer an opportunity for community members to gather, enjoy delicious food, and engage in meaningful discussions. A Voter ID Referendum (Question 1) will be on the ballot on Nov. 4, and volunteers will be available at the event to discuss the referendum and its negative effects should it pass.
The picnic menu will feature homemade chowders and chilies, served alongside freshly baked bread, cider, and a variety of soft drinks. Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish to share with others. If you’d like to contribute, please contact Lucian Laurie at dem.chair.23@gmail.com or Lee Pander at lpander@bowdoin.edu.
Candidates running for various offices in Maine government, as well as elected officials, are invited to attend the picnic. This is a great opportunity to meet them, ask questions, and learn more about their positions on key issues that matter to our community. There will be no formal speeches at the picnic.
The Boothbay Common offers picnic tables for seating, and attendees are also encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to ensure a comfortable experience.
The Boothbay Region Democratic Committee represents Maine Democrats in the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, and Southport. We are committed to fostering Democratic and progressive values through community engagement, and this picnic serves as both a celebration of our shared values and a chance to contribute to an important cause—supporting local food banks.
Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. For updates or more information, please contact Lucian Laurie at dem.chair.23@gmail.com or Lee Pander at lpander@bowdoin.edu.
Everyone is welcome; we look forward to seeing you on Oct. 18!
