Boothbay Register editor Kevin Burnham and reporter Bill Pearson are at the Augusta Civic Center on Monday, Feb. 15 providing updates to the Boothbay Region High School girls and boys basketball tournament games.
Updates will be provided at each quarter break in both games. The girls are playing Carrabec at 1 p.m. and the boys are squaring off against Madison at 4 p.m.
Boothbay girls vs. Carrabec girls
First quarter: Boothbay Region leads 9-2 after the first quarter in the girls Class C South quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.
Second quarter: Boothbay Region leads 17-6 at halftime in their girls Class C quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center. Faith Blethen leads Seahawks with eight points and three blocked shots. Boothbay Region’s defense limited Carrabec to one field goal and four free throws. Carrabec was one of 17 in field goal attempts.
Third quarter Boothbay Region expanded its lead to nine points. Blethen had a two point and a three-pointer. Seahawks lead 23-14.
Fourth quarter: Boothbay Region defeated Carrabec 32-17 in the Class C South quarterfinal. Boothbay Region will play Monmouth Academy on Thursday.
Boothbay boys vs. Madison boys
First quarter:Boothbay Region leads Madison 17-14 in the boys Class C South quarterfinal.
Second quarter: Boothbay Region continues to lead Madison 29-26 at halftime. Seahawks leading scorer Jacob Leonard has 10 points.
Third quarter: Madison High School erased an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to take a 45-44 lead, but an Abel Bryer rebound put the Seahawks in the lead 46-45 after three quarters.
Fourth quarter Abel Bryer blocked a shot with 1.2 remaining to preserve a Boothbay Region 61-59 victory over Madison in the Class C South quarterfinals in Augusta. Bryer blocked Madison’s Devon Watt shot from four feet to end the game,
