Midcoast Youth Theater presents its final summer show, the Disney musical “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” performed by MYT’s middle school youth. Shows are August 8-10 at Orion Performing Arts Center, Topsham.

Travel under the sea to experience the story of the beautiful young mermaid Ariel (Matti Donovan), who longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she'll have to defy her father King Triton (Chaz Wing), make a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula (Olivia Mendes), and convince Prince Eric (Seamus Flanagan) that she's the girl with the enchanting voice. Throughout her adventures, Ariel is joined by various friends, including her sincere and loyal pal, Flounder (Haille Rourke); the anxious crab, Sebastian (Hannah Perreault); and the goofy know-it-all seagull, Scuttle (Rowan Joyce).

The cast also includes the following youth from the surrounding Midcoast communities: Haley Alexander, Sam Aseltine, Olivia Botting, Mia Denison, Sabrina Fisher, Alyssa Folger, Brooke Greenstone, Lauren Lemieux, Abby Lentz, Asa Meyer-Waldo, Sarah Meyer-Waldo, Kimberly Murphy, Molly Palese, Carly Poulton, Sarah Poutree, Kaitlyn Prophett, McKayla Prophett, Jaxson Redlon, Erin Schott, and Juliet Williams.

The show is directed by Henry Eichman along with Simone Maderal as student director, with Courtney Babbidge as musical director and Annabelle Gardiner as choreographer.

Disney's “The Little Mermaid Jr.” features the hit songs "Part of Your World," "She's in Love," and the Oscar-winning "Under the Sea."

Music for Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” is by Alan Menken. Lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater. “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” is presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Performances on Thursday, August 8 and Friday, August 9 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the production.
