Little Seahawks cheerleaders perform halftime routine
A delightful halftime show was appreciated by all at the Seahawks-Phoenix homecoming football game Oct. 18.
"Little Seahawks Cheer" featured about 20 young girls who attended a fundraising camp conducted by the BRHS Seahawk cheerleading team. Sporting white T-shirts and hair ribbons, the big and little cheerleaders marched onto Sherman Field and did routines.
The BRHS cheerleaders are hoping to hold fundraisers to replace the over 20-year-old performance mats (Coach Michele Barter was part of the BRHS team when the mats were purchased in 1999).
"New mats are well over $10,000 so they have a lot of fundraising efforts to put in and wanted to do something different so I gave them the idea of running a clinic for the elementary kids in the region," said Barter in an email. "Aside from setting the schedule and communicating with parents of students who registered, the cheer team handled the rest from coming up with a routine and teaching our littles everything from motions to jumps and stunting. We hope to have more mini clinics like this in the future if the team's schedule allows."
