The LincolnHealth Wound Center, which opened in Boothbay Harbor in 2014, is expanding and will begin seeing patients at the new Watson Health Center on the LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta on Monday, Dec. 3. The Wound Center will continue seeing patients at its current location on the LincolnHealth – St. Andrews Campus in Boothbay Harbor.

“By offering wound care services on both LincolnHealth campuses, we hope more community members will be able to access and benefit from this specialized care,” said LincolnHealth President and CEO Jim Donovan. “Transportation can be a barrier for patients, and we are always looking for ways to improve accessibility.”

The LincolnHealth Wound Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. The center frequently works with diabetic wounds or foot ulcers.

“We offer an array of advanced dressings and therapies so patients can return to their daily routine as soon as possible,” explained Wound Center Clinical Coordinator Susan Papineau, RN, WCC. “A few of our advanced capabilities include placing bioengineered tissue products into wounds to stimulate healthy growth of tissue, total contact casting to treat foot ulcers, and using compression wraps to reduce swelling and improve blood flow.”

The Wound Center team includes LincolnHealth Surgeon Mark Mainella, DO; Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Bonnie Rademacher-Flis, Katherine Webster, MD, wound center certified registered nurses and staff.

Patients who have a wound, skin ulcer, or sore that is healing slowly or keeps coming back, may benefit from wound care services. Patients are typically referred to the Wound Center for specialized care by their primary care physician. Appointments may also be made directly by calling 207-633-1600.
