Lewis twins give additional talk on bridgetending years
Twin brothers and lifelong bridge tenders Duane and Dwight Lewis returned to the Boothbay Region Historical Society on Thursday, Aug. 24, for an encore presentation of their very popular program first presented there on Thursday, July 13, in which they reminisced about their combined 90 years tending the Southport, Trevett, and Bristol bridges.
The focus was on their years at the Southport Bridge. All seats for the second program were reserved as soon as the program was announced in the Boothbay Register. All those in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the brothers’ prepared and spontaneous recollections. A question and answer session followed the program and prompted additional memories. The program was videotaped and will be posted online with the programs of other speakers’ appearing at the society this year at the end of the speaker season.
