Lesley Blethen is 2019 Alumni Banquet guest speaker

    Lesley Carter Blethen, a 1985 graduate of Boothbay Region High School and past postmaster at the Boothbay Harbor Post Office, will be the guest speaker at the Boothbay Region High School Alumni Banquet on Sunday, June 2. The banquet, held annually for the graduating class, parents and alumni, will be held at Boothbay Region Elementary School beginning at 6 p.m.

    Blethen, the mother of Faith Blethen, salutatorian of the BRHS Class of 2019 and stellar athlete, joined the Army (1986-1991) after high school and was a member of the Army National Guard until 1994. She completed drill sergeant school through the Army Reserve.

    Blethen, now the postal service’s manager of consumer and industry contact for Northern New England in Portland, began working for the USPS in 1993. She worked as the Boothbay Harbor postmaster for 14 years. She received a Postmaster of the Year award in 2005.

    In her spare time, Blethen coached youth basketball for several years at the Boothbay Region YMCA. The Y honored her a few years ago for her volunteer hours. Blethen was a member of the BRHS 1984 state championship basketball team.

    Lesley, her husband, Brian, Faith and younger daughter, BRHS sophomore Glory, live in Boothbay.

    Tickets ($17 per person) are on sale until Wednesday, May 29. Alumni members/family only, no children. Tickets are not sold at the door and must be bought in advance.
