Keep up the fight for St. Andrews
Dear Editor:
I am shocked to find out that St. Andrews Hospital is threatened.
My family will be heading to Boothbay/Southport next week for a celebration of life for my aunt, Chris Geier, who died last year from lung cancer.
She was a summer resident for 35 years and in that time (during those summers) I've been to St. Andrews for emergencies that could have resulted in far worse outcomes; an asthma/allergy attack; my aunt had her thumb squished like a grape between two boats while docking during rough weather; and finally when my dear uncle, James Geier, suffered an attack on a sailboat and was taken first to St. Andrews before going by helicopter to Portland. On each occasion, the patients and family were treated with respect and great care and we were impressed with the facilities and professionalism.
I don't know what to say. If you can fight this, Boothbay/Southport people, fight it! Keep your medical care. I'll keep following the story and hope for the right outcome.
