Join one of the Seacoast Orchestras - no audition required
Area musicians are invited to play music with the Seacoast Community Orchestras this fall. Adults and children, experienced players and those less experienced, are invited to join one or more of our three string ensembles for fall and/or spring semesters. There is a place for everyone. No auditions are required--many members play in more than one group. We perform two public free concerts, in December and April. Scholarship assistance is available!
Prima Orchestra provides an introduction to ensemble playing suitable for students who have learned the Bach Minuets in Suzuki Book One or equivalent and have some sight reading experience. Mezza Orchestra, led by Dino Liva, is suitable for students of all ages who have some musical reading experience and have completed Suzuki Book 2 or 3 or the equivalent. Avanzata Orchestra, also conducted by Dino Liva, welcomes advanced players who can play pieces in the Suzuki Books 4 & 5 or the equivalent.
Brass and Woodwind musicians are encouraged to join the Avanzata (advanced) Orchestra for the fall session this year for a performance pieces from Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony."
Weekly rehearsals for the orchestras began Sept. 16 at the Great Salt Bay School cafeteria in Damariscotta and continue on Tuesday afternoons throughout the school year following the school holiday calendar. A free public concert is performed in December. The spring semester begins in January with a concert in April. By the time you read this the first rehearsal will be history, but please reach out and join us!
Rehearsals are held at the Great Salt Bay Community School Cafeteria on Tuesday afternoons. Tuesday rehearsal schedule: Prima (3-3:45 p.m.), Mezza (3:50-4:50 p.m.), and Avanzata (5-6 p.m.).
