Dear Editor:

I’ve lived in Edgecomb for 20 years, and over the past year that I’ve gotten to know Charlotte Nutt, she has made a huge impression on me. In the time I’ve known her, it’s clear she is a great person who truly cares about this place and is always there to support our town whenever we need her.

While I've known her for a year, Charlotte’s roots here go way back. Her dad, David Nutt, spent years as a local boat builder, and her late mom, Dr. Judy Sandick, took care of so many of us at St. Andrews and Miles Memorial Hospital. Growing up on the peninsula, Charlotte went to local public schools, played field hockey, swam at the Y, and spent summers working as a deckhand on Schooner Eastwind. She knows what life on the coast is like because she lived it.

Through her work in municipal planning, Charlotte understands how important it is to support our town governments. She knows solutions shouldn't be forced down from Augusta, but developed by listening to local towns and giving us the tools to handle our own planning.

She’s also focused on the issues hitting us hardest right now, especially housing. So many young families, tradesmen, teachers, and seniors are getting priced out of the towns where they grew up or work. Charlotte wants to fix that by building more housing, protecting existing homes, and keeping working families here. That same care goes into protecting our working waterfronts, small businesses, and local industries that keep our coast alive.

In the year I’ve known Charlotte, she’s proven to be someone who genuinely cares and is always ready to pitch in. Please join me in voting for Charlotte Nutt for House District 48 this November.
