Jane Pfeiffer Mullane, 94, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2019 at Harborview Cottage in Newcastle, Maine.

Jane was a resident of the Harborview Cottage (the Lincoln Home’s Memory Care Facility) for the past 15 months. During that time she received exceptional care from a loving and caring staff.

Jane was born Jane Atkinson Pfeiffer on June 9, 1924 to Weyland Pfeiffer and Dorothy S. Fish in New York City. She was a descendant of Major William Popham. She attended Scarsdale public schools for 12 years and graduated from Southern Seminary in 1943 in Buena Vista, Virginia.

She was employed at McCann Advertising Agency in New York City during World War II. There she met her husband, Robert W. Kearfott, one of the son’s of the agency’s artists. Together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Terry Lynn. The family lived in Darien, Connecticut from 1951 to 1984. She later worked as a teller at Union Bank in Darien from 1964 to 1984. Jane and Robert divorced in 1964.

Jane married John L. Mullane in 1964 and retired to Boothbay Harbor from Darien in 1984. They were married 28 years until John’s death in 1993.

Jane spent her childhood summers on Southport and shared this tradition with her family. The tradition still continues through generations. Jane loved to travel; she was fortunate to have traveled all over the United States and the world for 40 years. She loved to share her travel photos and stories with friends and family.

She had many talents and interests — the arts, crafts, she painted, sewed, did needlepoint, photography, and was an enthusiastic gardener.

She also loved anything that involved being near or on the water. She enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club and Southport Yacht Club.

Jane is survived by two daughters, Terry Lynn LaBonne and her husband David of Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, and Barbara Ringle and her husband Jerry of Santa Ana, California.

A gathering may be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln Home, 22 River Rd., Newcastle, ME 04553
