Rose Campbell and Karen Higgins set new Boothbay Region High School track records May 20. Campbell broke the 100M dash record with a time of 13.00 seconds. It was previously held by Betsy Beck (1995) and Joyce Chagan (2005) who both ran in 13.14. Higgins broke her own 1,600M record running a time of five minutes, 13.36 seconds. Earlier this season, Higgins ran in 5:27.26, which broke the record held by Tammy Campbell (1988) who ran in 5:28.24. Higgins is also the current 3,200M recordholder. The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls' 4x100 relay team of Campbell, Moriah Smith, Olivia Rittall and Sophia Mansfield won with a 54.22 second mark.  

In the Mountain Valley Conference track meet, Campbell won the 100M dash and discus. Higgins won the 1,600M and 3,200M. Boothbay/Wiscasset finished second in a six-team field. Boothbay/Wiscasset scored 95 points. Madison won with 107 and Winthrop placed third with 77.

In the 100M dash, Rittall finished second with 13.5 and Moriah Smith finished fifth at 13.9. In the 200M dash, Campbell finished second with a 28.08 second mark. Rittall finished third at 28.58. Lisbon's Addy Burkhardt won with 28.07. In the 400M dash, Rittall finished second with a one-minute, 4.75 second mark. Nerla Laventure finished sixth at 1:13.06. Burkhardt of Lisbon won, 1:01.8.

Higgins also won the 3,200M with a 11:46.93 time. Maddie Orchard finished fourth at 14:10.79 and Arabella Hodgdon finished fifth at 16:10.97. 

In the 100M hurdles, Sophia Mansfield finished fifth at 19.63 seconds. Madison's Raegan Cowan won with a 17.57 second mark. The 4x400 relay team of Orchard, Higgins, Eddy and Maya Jacobs finished third with a four-minute, 51.01 second time. Winthrop won with 4:36.47.

In the high jump, Zuriel Smith finished fourth with a four-foot, four-inch mark. Lisbon's Ambrielle Wallace won with 4-08. In the triple jump, Anna Strozier finished second at 31 feet, two inches. Mansfield was fourth with a 29-foot, five-inch mark. Winthrop's Isabel Folsom won with 32-1.5. In the shot put, Zuriel Smith finished third with a 26-foot, four-inch throw. Madison's Allison Tuscan won with 28-3.5.

In the discus, Campbell won with a 95-foot, six-inch throw. In the javelin, Zuriel Smith finished fifth with a 68-foot, 11-inch throw. Madison's Ava Landry won with 97-02. 

The team's next meet is Friday, May 23 at the Capital City Classic at Cony High School In Augusta.
