Harbor Theater and BHML partner for Minecraft events
On Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. “A Minecraft Movie” opens at Harbor Theater. In anticipation of the film, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library (BHML) is offering two gaming events: Gaming Afternoon at the Library on Wednesday, May 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Board Game Night on Friday, May 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. where participants can game before they see the movie.
After gaming at the library, families can see “A Minecraft Movie” on opening night with the Family Free Pass deal! Families are eligible to reserve one free adult ticket and one free child’s ticket online for the Friday night, May 16 show only. If families have not already reserved their free passes before the library gaming events, library staff can help them sign up online before attending the movie.
Not only can families play games then see the movie, but they can also receive a raffle ticket to win a free Minecraft prize at Friday night’s movie! Sherman’s Bookstore in Boothbay Harbor has donated two Minecraft Magnetic Travel Puzzles as raffle prizes.
In the world of Minecraft, creativity doesn't just help you craft, it's essential to one's survival! Four misfits find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack Black). Together, their adventure will challenge them to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative... the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.
“Mr. Hess and his five screenwriters have mined childhood to craft something that’s alive with imagination. It’s not the most polished movie you’ll see this year, but it’s as cheerfully mad as a little kid’s birthday party. We could use more of that.” - Kyle Smith, Wall Street Journal
“A Minecraft Movie” continues at Harbor Theater on Saturday, May 17 at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 21 at 2 p.m., and Thursday, May 22 at 7 p.m.
Enjoy all the family gaming fun with Minecraft at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Harbor Theater, and Sherman’s Bookstore!
